In November 2025, CBC News chief correspondent Adrienne Arsenault reported from Cairo on the rehabilitation crisis facing Gaza — now home to more child amputees per capita than anywhere else on Earth. The coverage documented a pop-up clinic fitting children with 3D-printed prosthetics. Lina Zdruli, who founded the organization featured in that coverage, appears throughout the report as part of the team delivering prosthetics on the ground — including in discussions with Dr. Hazem of INARA on how to scale operations and establish sustainable next steps. The clinic demonstrated what's possible, but also what's missing: a one-off intervention ends, but children outgrow their prosthetics, families carry unaddressed trauma, and healthcare workers lack the training to provide follow-up care. Following Cairo, the path forward was clear.
